Summary

Brie finds herself caught between two princes and two destinies while the future of the fae realm hangs in the balance。

After Abriella's sister was sold to the fae, she thought life couldn't get any worse。 But when she suddenly finds herself caught in a web of lies of her own making - loving two princes and trusting neither - things are not quite as clear as she once thought。

As civil war wages in the Court of Darkness, Brie finds herself unable to choose a side。 How can she know where she stands when she doesn't even know herself anymore? In this darkly romantic thrill ride, the more Faerie is torn apart from the inside, the clearer it becomes that prophecies don't lie and Brie has a role to play in the fate of this magical realm - whether she likes it or not。

Thank you to NetGalley and Clarion Books for sending me an ARC of These Twisted Bonds in exchange for an honest review。 Everything that Abriella knows is a lie。 The person she thought she could trust the most has betrayed her in a devastating way。 All the relationships in Brie’s life mirror the crumbling of the Faerie kingdom。 Magic is life and manipulation is currency。 On either side of the growing tension stands a Prince who has lost her trust。 As war brews between the Seelie and Unseelie cour Thank you to NetGalley and Clarion Books for sending me an ARC of These Twisted Bonds in exchange for an honest review。 Everything that Abriella knows is a lie。 The person she thought she could trust the most has betrayed her in a devastating way。 All the relationships in Brie’s life mirror the crumbling of the Faerie kingdom。 Magic is life and manipulation is currency。 On either side of the growing tension stands a Prince who has lost her trust。 As war brews between the Seelie and Unseelie courts, Brie tries to discover what part she plays。 Unsure of where anyone's loyalties lie, Abriella must learn to embrace who she truly is or risk the fate of everyone in Faerie。 **SPOILERS** I was so pleasantly surprised by this series。 It was something I picked up as a filler read and then devoured in this second book。 I got a lot of Poppy and Feyre vibes from Abriella。 I enjoyed watching her grow into embracing every bit of herself regardless of if she thought it was “bad” or “good”。 Sebastian and Abriella’s relationship was hard for me to accept in the end。 I was happy to see his redemption, but at that point I was so over the possessive alphahole mentality。 It was like the moment happened and then that was it。 We were just to accept he is changed now and a “good guy”。 Finn, on the other hand, I grew to love。 I am a sucker for the misunderstood, morally grey, dark-haired boys。 For the ones who will do anything for the person they love。 He differed from Sebastian in the sense that, while he originally was a no share alphahole, he was willing to do whatever was needed to save his people。 Even if it meant losing everything he had been raised for and breaking his heart in the process。 The writing did feel a little info dumpy at times and I felt like a big pivotal moment at the end just came up fast, happened, and then we moved on from it。 I almost felt like I had whiplash and I was scrolling back through the pages like “wait that’s it?”。 I felt like there could have been more tension added to it as it was a plot move that had been discussed for almost half the book。 All in all, I enjoyed this duology and encourage fantasy readers to dive deep into the land of Faerie where nothing is ever what it seems。 。。。more

I loved the first book and this one was good, but not great。 Someone said the main characters were very much like those in A Court of Thrones and Roses, and I just couldn’t they that out of my head! I was sort of expecting the ending, but there was still an unexpected plot twist。 Highly recommend!

There's a fae realm who's future rests in Brie's hands。 She's thrust between two princes and two destinies, and her trials in the wild fae lands and beyond will teach her what matters, who she is meant to be and who she is allowed to love。If I could give this series 5+ stars, I would。 Lexi Ryan has the ability to keep you on the edge of your seat with the the danger, the heartbreak and the betrayal while also heating you up, until you're begging for more during the spicey scenes。There were moments where Brie questioned her worth to the point where I wanted to grab her by her shoulders and shake her。 Doesn't she realize her power, her destiny and her worth? Of course she questions herself when the Prince she loved betrayed her, after she had almost lost her sister and battled through so much in These Hollow Vows。 There are individuals that Brie crosses paths with in These Twisted Bonds that help her to heal, help her to trust again, and aid her in making the tough decisions。I finished this book heartbroken, but happy and hopeful。 Now I just want Lexi to write more fantasy love stories!! I am a forever fan! Thank you Lexi Ryan for the amazing story, to HarperCollins and NetGalley for the ARC。 These opinions are my own, freely given。I will be posting this review on my Instagram closer to publication date。 I will update the link at that time。 。。。more

These Twisted Bonds revisits the land of the fae and the battle for the crown… light vs dark, and very morally grey。These Hollow Vows created an amazing fae world that I just loved but I felt quite disconnected from the development in These Twisted Bonds。I still enjoyed the book although not entirely happy with the ending - still a solid 4 stars!

These Twisted bonds begins right where it left off in These Hollow Vows with Abriella on the run from Sebastian after finding out he had lied to her。 While on the run she comes across a camp of imprisoned children and helps rescue them with Misha, who is a Fae King。 He is a funny side character who teaches her about her power while being sarcastic, mischievous and chivalrous - I would like to read more about him。The Unseelie Court is dying and Abriella, Misha and the Court of Darkness are trying These Twisted bonds begins right where it left off in These Hollow Vows with Abriella on the run from Sebastian after finding out he had lied to her。 While on the run she comes across a camp of imprisoned children and helps rescue them with Misha, who is a Fae King。 He is a funny side character who teaches her about her power while being sarcastic, mischievous and chivalrous - I would like to read more about him。The Unseelie Court is dying and Abriella, Misha and the Court of Darkness are trying to find a way to save it。 That is all that can be said without giving anything away。 There was a lot of tension and a little bit of spice within the love triangle which I particularly enjoyed! There were quite a few eye roll moments and repetition as she fought with herself over who she could trust and who she could love。 It was quite predictable, but I think it needed that。 The ending seemed quite sudden, and I would have liked a bit more, but overall, it is a very engaging, quick-paced read which will definitely be loved by fans of These hollow Vows。4。5/5Thank you to netgalley and the published for providing me with an Arc for an honest opinion。 。。。more

OMG!! Where do I even begin with how much I loved this book? I loved the world building, the story, the pacing, the characters; I loved it all! I don’t typically enjoy the love triangle trope, but this one was so well done that it had me all up in my feels。 The chemistry between certain characters was out of this world and had me speed reading just to get to scenes when they’re together。 Even though the plot reminded me of other popular books, I still found myself not wanting to put this book do OMG!! These Twisted Bonds starts where These Hollow Vows ended。 I was hoping to enjoy this book more then the first one, but it kind of fell flat。 The first 75% of the story was build up, not really a lot going on。 Then the last 25% was where all the action happened。 At one point I even questioned whether this was going to be a trilogy or even a series as I couldn’t see a ending in sight。 Brie annoyed me for the most part throughout this book, she never really accepts her power until the end, but I wo These Twisted Bonds starts where These Hollow Vows ended。 I was hoping to enjoy this book more then the first one, but it kind of fell flat。 The first 75% of the story was build up, not really a lot going on。 Then the last 25% was where all the action happened。 At one point I even questioned whether this was going to be a trilogy or even a series as I couldn’t see a ending in sight。 Brie annoyed me for the most part throughout this book, she never really accepts her power until the end, but I would have liked to have seen her using it more。 She also used the “but I’m just a normal human girl” card one too many times for mommy liking。 I was glad that she and Finn figured out how to be together finally because that feels like all I’ve been hoping for。 The character that stole the show for me was Misha and I would definitely be interested if he gets his own book。 This was your typical YA read。 If that’s your thing then I would definitely suggest this but if you wanted something a little more like me then I would skip this one! 。。。more

If you aren’t a YA fan, this one probably isn’t for you as I would say the way it is written and the plot is firmly YA, but for YA fans, I encourage you to check out this exciting duology! The character of Misha swiftly became one of my favourites in this book。 He is a calm and wise presence but also injects some joy back into Bries life。 However there did seem to be many characters who did not develop or were barely even there this book and so as a reader I felt a bit disconnected from them。 These include: Kane and Tynan。 I think the last quarter to me seemed a bit rushed in comparison to the rest of the book, and so didnt feel as impactful as it could have been。 There is a lot more background knowledge about lineages and the history of both seelie and unseelie courts throughout These Twisted Bonds and I do love that in a book。 Overall a very strong read, that got me super invested with some of the characters and desperate to know how it all turned out。 A lovely conclusion to a fast paced, fantasy duology。 Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

The more Faerie is torn apart from the inside, the clearer it becomes that prophecies don't lie and Brie has a role to play in the fate of this magical realm - whether she likes it or not。It’s interesting to see how Brie adapts to her new life as a faerie。 And the fact her powers start behaving differently with her change。 She did annoy me a little bit at times but I could forgive her for it since she found herself in an impossible situation。 She’s been thrust into a world, into a body, that she’s hated for many years and feels - understandably - discombobulated by it。 I liked seeing her determination and her sincerity at doing all she could to protect innocents。 More so I liked the fact that she didn’t lose her sass and feistiness。 Sebastian annoyed me to no end。 His entitlement and belief that he had done so little wrong made me very irate with him。 It’s incredible how different he is in the two books - but I prefer this more honest version of him。 Not as charismatic or charming, he shows just how desperate he is and can be - and how far he’s willing to go to keep what he wants。 This story definitely further endeared Finn to me massively。 I found myself rooting for him as the book progressed and getting excited any time he popped up。 Still deadly, still more to him than meets the eye。 But he’s incredibly soft and considerate。 He’s still a cinnamon roll in my eyes! I can safely say that Brie ended up with the right one in the end。 And what a rollercoaster it was to get there! I loved that we were introduced to new characters - some of who became a favourite for the levity they brought! - who became bigger presences as the story unfolded。 The flow was great, something always happening。 There were a few time jumps that were rather sudden but I didn’t mind too much, I don’t feel it detracts from the story。 The romance was definitely a level up from the first book - as was the pining。 I’m also a massive sucker for the single bed trope and I was maddeningly happy to see it included! Overall, These Twisted Bonds is a fantastic conclusion to a fantastic duology。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5Thank you again to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for an advanced copy of this book。 。。。more

I felt that the second book was way too slow to start with。 The internal dialogue was frustrating and it took too long for the MC to step into her power because she was held back by her pity party。 The last 150-odd pages carried the book and made me want so much more of that, instead of the slow and unnecessary start。 Well love triangles are not my thing, I do acknowledge that there is a place for it, but this book definitely cemented my opinion that it is not something I like from the books I r I felt that the second book was way too slow to start with。 The internal dialogue was frustrating and it took too long for the MC to step into her power because she was held back by her pity party。 The last 150-odd pages carried the book and made me want so much more of that, instead of the slow and unnecessary start。 Well love triangles are not my thing, I do acknowledge that there is a place for it, but this book definitely cemented my opinion that it is not something I like from the books I read。 I feel like I just wanted more from this duology - like it just kept missing the mark。 It had potential but didn't reach it。 The world-building, history, and relationships, just wasn't enough。I received a copy of this book via NetGalley。 。。。more

The ending was what I was hoping for and I literally fist bumped the end。 This was such an epic conclusion and ended nicely, I'm not left with wanting more which is nice, since I won't spend the next few months hoping for another book or a spin-off, though if that should happen, I won't be complaining。 。。。more

Sighs。 Where to begin on this? Granted, I did not love the first one in this duology (I had the FairyLoot exclusive and immediately sold it after finishing because I will never want to read it again)。 But as I had an advanced copy of the sequel, I figured I may as well read so I know what happens to our crew of Seelies/Unseelies。And in truth? I didn’t care about the ending to this story in the slightest。 Brie felt too much like a “not like the other girls” trope, and her magic still felt like it Sighs。 Where to begin on this? I didn’t care about the ending to this story in the slightest。 Brie felt too much like a “not like the other girls” trope, and her magic still felt like it was not explained, nor utilized enough。 Also?!? Spoiler, but she almost dies no less than 4 times in this one 500-page book?? I feel like that’s far too many times for the same character within one book。I hate that I did not like Finn AT ALL。 Finn is one of my favorite names and I thought I would always be loyal to any character named Finn。 But I am 100% Team Sebastian (though not for Brie。 She doesn’t deserve him)。AND THE LAST 10% OF THE BOOK IS WHERE EVERYTHING IMPORTANT HAPPENS?!? It feels so rushed and sudden and like the author realized “Oh no… I need to end this somehow” and just typed out another 1,000 words and said “that works well enough!”Overall… this book was not worth it to me。 I very much hope that other people love this series, because the thing that kept me around was the writing style。 It was very easy to read and just keep going, and I appreciate the author for that。Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I was super excited for this book and it was just okay。 I felt like it was rushed and I wanted more development between Brie and Finn。 I also felt like a good chunk of this book was just explaining what was happening versus showing me what was happening。

If Brie forgives that slimy piece of groundnut, I will riot。

No one does morally grey characters better than #lexiryan All of these characters were so layered it was really refreshing。 The magic system continued to evolve in this book but it was clear enough without being overly explained。 Overall a great companion novel to #thesehollowvows。 If you are a fan of ACOTAR this is a must read。 #arc #comingsoon #sequel #thesetwiste 📚Recently Read📚These Twisted Bonds by @writerlexiryan Thank you @netgalley and @clarionbooks for the ARCWhoa! The first book was fun, but this book was too similar to really enjoy。 I honestly had a hard time remembering what happened in this book and what happened in other books I've read。 Felt a bit like fanfic tbh。 I'm glad it was a duology。 The first book was fun, but this book was too similar to really enjoy。 I honestly had a hard time remembering what happened in this book and what happened in other books I've read。 Felt a bit like fanfic tbh。 I'm glad it was a duology。 。。。more

*Possible spoilers。 Review of ARC*These Twisted Bonds is the long awaited sequel (and finale) to the stunning These Hollow Vows duology。 Our main characters, Brie, Sebastian and the stunning Finn, come together to bring this story to a close。 The characters must do what is best for the sake of the realm, Brie overcomes some serious barriers and the Princes must do what they can to support her in this thrilling, action conclusion。 The story builds slowly, developing other story lines and bringing *Possible spoilers。 Review of ARC*These Twisted Bonds is the long awaited sequel (and finale) to the stunning These Hollow Vows duology。 Our main characters, Brie, Sebastian and the stunning Finn, come together to bring this story to a close。 The characters must do what is best for the sake of the realm, Brie overcomes some serious barriers and the Princes must do what they can to support her in this thrilling, action conclusion。 The story builds slowly, developing other story lines and bringing in new characters, before plunging us in deep and keeping us hooked all the way to the end。 As always, Lexi Ryan's world building is beautifully done, describing her world in rich detail that drops jaws。 Her storyline unpredictable and captivating, the best way for a duology to end。 I am sad to see the end of this series and hope to see more of her publications soon! 。。。more

Thank you so much Hodder & Stoughton & NetGalley for an e-arc of this book。 Before jumping on this book, I re-read These Hollow Vows and I’m so glad I did because its sequel, These Twisted Bonds, picks up right where we left off our Brie, running after discovering that Sebastian forced her to drink the Potion of Life and turned her into an immortal fae。 I had so many feelings and thoughts while reading this story。 After a while, I was absolutely mad and scared that the story wasn’t going where Thank you so much Hodder & Stoughton & NetGalley for an e-arc of this book。 Before jumping on this book, I re-read These Hollow Vows and I’m so glad I did because its sequel, These Twisted Bonds, picks up right where we left off our Brie, running after discovering that Sebastian forced her to drink the Potion of Life and turned her into an immortal fae。 I had so many feelings and thoughts while reading this story。 After a while, I was absolutely mad and scared that the story wasn’t going where I wished it would go。 I was ready to call it a disaster。 We move away from the Seelie and Unseelie Court, while Brie finds herself new allies and a place to rest in the Wild Fae territories。 I thought it was too dragging, and I was missing too much a particular Unseelie fae, Finn, who was my favourite since book 1。 After moments of anxiety and re-considering all my life choices, Finn finally re-appeared and the story became everything I wanted it to be and more。 This is what a sequel should be like, it perfectly tied up all the loose ends from book one, managing to bring in new intriguing characters and expand this world。 Yes, it still has lots of ACOTAR vibes, and yes, Finn still very much resembles Rhysand, but I still loved how the writer went beyond the bond factor and introduced the new element of tethering, which managed to steer away from the Maas’s world mating bond and bring redemption for a certain character。 I can’t say I fully loved Brie in this book as much as in the first one。 She sometimes needs to snap out of it, too much self-commiseration and self-doubt, but I still loved how the writer explored Brie’s magic and power。 I am glad the story found a rounded ending and it proves that certain stories should remain a duology, and not be forced into a trilogy。 However, I would not be surprised if we end up with a separate story in the same world, I mean, it’s amazing and the side characters are so intriguing (Misha, I’m looking at you) and I am thirsty for more。 。。。more
